William was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia two short months after his second birthday on September 20, 2023. We spent five days at Children’s Hospital Colorado where we learned about William’s diagnosis, met his incredible team, and had a port surgically placed into William’s chest. Our life began to revolve around doctors’ appointments, chemotherapy side effects, and keeping our home as germ free as possible while simultaneously trying to maintain some source of normalcy for our daughters.
Watching your child fight for their life is truly the most terrifying and isolating thing a parent can go through but has also taught us what’s truly important in life and how strong our children are. William is my hero, as he fought cancer with the joy and innocence only a child could, never complaining or asking, “why me;” rather finding joy in the little things such as getting a new Hot Wheels car at each appointment. William went through a total of eight hundred and eight days of treatment officially finishing in December of 2025.
Now that William has finished with his treatment journey, it is our goal as a family to continue to bring awareness to childhood cancers and in return additional funding as no child should have to fight for their life at the age of two and no parent should be told their child has a life-threatening diagnosis.
Throughout treatment we would tell William, “You are brave, you are strong, and you can do hard things,” and he has proven that even cancer can’t stop him!
