Grant is a resilient and courageous boy who never stopped smiling throughout his cancer journey.
His path to diagnosis started on a family vacation in Mexico where a local doctor found tumors in his abdomen on ultrasound. After a long journey back to Colorado, an expedited surgery for port placement, tumor and bone marrow biopsies, he was officially diagnosed with Stage III Burkitt Lymphoma, the fastest growing cancer in the human body.
He went from being an adventurous boy on summer break to facing an unknown future in an instant. Treatment was vigorous with four back-to-back rounds of chemotherapy along with lumbar punctures and time away from school and activities. Grant showed bravery and perseverance day after day. After a whirlwind six months of inpatient admissions, clinic visits, blood draws, procedures, and imaging, he received news of remission and remains cancer-free.
Grant is back to his adventurous self. He loves exploring the outdoors, cooking and eating his favorite foods, traveling, gaming, and playing with friends. Grant’s journey is a reminder of how quickly cancer can disrupt the path ahead without warning, but also of the strength, courage, and determination that can overcome even the most difficult challenges.
