In early December 2024, at just six years old, Rhiannon’s life changed dramatically. She began experiencing concerning issues with her legs, including difficulty walking, and a noticeable loss of balance. An MRI revealed multiple tumors along her spine, leading to the devastating diagnosis of Burkitt Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
Rhiannon underwent emergency surgery and immediately began an intense six-month course of chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She endured severe side effects, including frequent high fevers, debilitating mouth sores, persistent nosebleeds, and overwhelming fatigue. The emotional toll was equally profound. Rhiannon withdrew and retreated socially, refusing to speak.
She completed treatment in May 2025, and her scans since then, including her most recent one in October, have all been clear. Today, Rhiannon continues to make remarkable progress. She lost the ability to walk or stand on her own due to tumor compression and spinal surgery before treatment, but she is working hard and rebuilding her strength and confidence. She is now walking on her own, playing, and engaging in the everyday joys of childhood.
Recently, Rhiannon was able to experience her Make-A-Wish trip, a bright and healing moment after months of resilience and courage.
Rhiannon’s journey is one of strength, healing, and hope. She is her family’s hero.
