Embryonal Tumor with Multilayered Rosettes (ETMR)
Embryonal tumors with multilayered rosettes (ETMR) are a rare small round blue cell tumor of the central nervous system and are one of the most aggressive brain tumors in children. These tumors affect kids mostly under the age of 4. The prognosis is poor and the median survival is only 9 months. The mainstay of treatment is surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
Amplification of oncogenic C19MC region on chromosome 19 is the salient feature of this tumor type.
