One of our favorite events of the holiday season Ferrari of Denver‘s Annual Holiday Toy Drive! We are so grateful to have been invited to participate in FoD’s 11th Annual Holiday Toy Drive again this year!
As an added bonus for this year’s event, Tristan Williams, a 17-year-old high school student from Bailey, Colorado and member of Boy Scout Troop 238, organized a holiday gift drive in conjunction with the Ferrari of Denver 11th Annual Holiday Toy Drive for his Eagle Scout Project. With the help of his family and other troop members, they set out boxes around town and collected more than 700 gifts for the whole family over several weeks in November and December!
All of the donated gifts collected by Tristan and his Troop were set under the tree at Ferrari of Denver for their Client Holiday Party on Friday, December 6th and FoD clients added their own gifts to the collection for the Holiday Extravaganza held the next day at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. It was an evening of fun, holiday cheer, live entertainment, catered food, and delicious beverages!
The Holiday Extravaganza at the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children is an event for children with long-term illnesses, including bone marrow transplant patients. The Holiday Extravaganza creates a “celebration space” and offers kids the chance to come to the hospital for a positive reason and “shop” for their families in the Christmas store of gifts. On Saturday, December 7th, Santa Claus and a parade of Ferrari and other exotic cars left Ferrari of Denver loaded with presents and headed to Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children!
This year, more than 175 patients and families attended the event! Each patient had their own “personal shopper” to help guide them through the store and pick a gift for themselves and one for each member of the family. The gifts were then wrapped by volunteers, including former Miss Colorado, while the kids enjoyed several other holiday activities. Kendra Scott provided a jewelry-making station, The Kyle Wood Foundation gave a fresh turkey to each family, and music was provided by Chase the Music, a Colorado nonprofit that makes original music composed and performed live for children battling critical conditions. Patients and siblings also enjoyed face painting, cookie and ornament decorating, and a balloon artist. Kids were also able to take home framed pictures with Santa and their families.
