Artist: Lisa Blidar

I am an Artist, Interior Designer, Color Consultant, Environmentalist, Animal Advocator, Naturalist, Re-Purposer, Llama Llover, & Wanderer. With a BA in Interior Design from Kent State University (Kent, OH),I practiced residential/commercial design; became a sales/marketing manager for wall-coverings, textiles, art, & decorative finishes; started a company called Tierra Structures Design Inc., engaging in biophilia projects, and eventually became a National Color Consultant for Sherwin-Williams. In 1987 I discovered llamas, & these llovable camelids opened up an exciting new genre of fiber arts as well! I have a studio called Hozho: The Beauty Way, where I create fiber/textile items, beaded jewelry, & dimensional mixed media assemblage/collage art pieces. For my entire life, I have been mindfully engaged & inspired by my natural surroundings. Being completely distracted by the allure that an organic & textured habitat presents to me, I always see something beautiful in my milieu. Being a lover of animals/flora/fauna & long time “repurpose-er,”I am a sentimental gatherer, finding joy in discovering a ‘memento’/‘treasure’ (m/t) from a specific place and/or experience. When connecting this m/t with the memory of that interaction I experienced with nature, it allows my art to reveal a backstory & remember the journey. I find it comforting, meditative, & I am surrounded by gratitude while accomplishing art from elements that otherwise may be thrown away, lost or forgotten. I call these biophila collections: LOFO: Lifetime of Found Objects. I also suffer from divine restlessness!
