Ava
Ava was a bright, kind 10 year old girl when she was diagnosed with DIPG. We had no idea what this even stood for and our world was turned upside down. From the beginning she was determined to conquer this tumor and fought through radiation and treatment. She kept her doctors on their toes with her questions and always wanted to be well informed as to what her treatment was going to be. She also thought that a service dog would help her get better and we knew that she wouldn’t live long enough to get an official service dog, so her uncle bought her a puppy as a “special service dog”. This puppy, Bella, gave Ava motivation to keep going.
Ava loved horseback riding, animals, unicorns and stuffed animals, and all things pink. All her stuffed animals were of course guinea pigs for practice toward her dream of becoming a veterinarian. Ava loved science, history, and reading and amazed everyone with all the facts she knew. Of course, all these facts were mingled in with a joke or two. Her friends remember her as kind and a friend to all. Ava was giving and was always the one to make anyone feel welcome. She had a contagious smile that greeted everyone and you could not walk away from her without smiling yourself.
After bravely fighting this horrendous tumor for 107 days, God reached down and touched her and heaven gained a new angel. We miss her dearly but know that she lives on with us through the many precious memories we have.
