Artist: Yvette Weijergang

Background and Education Originally from the Netherlands, I relocated to the United States in 1996. In my home country, I earned a master’s degree in art, which laid a strong foundation for my career in the arts. Professional Experience Over the past 25 years in the U.S., I have worked as an art instructor, mentor, and practicing artist. For 12 years, I served as an art instructor and mentor at Interact in Minnesota, an organization dedicated to supporting artists with physical/mental challenges. At Interact, I facilitated daily art creation and organized exhibitions for the artists. In addition to my role at Interact, I have taught and mentored at various art organizations in Minnesota and Chicago, working with both established institutions and artists in residence. Artistic Practice and Exhibitions My own artistic practice encompasses painting, drawing, and mixed media, and I have consistently collaborated with galleries throughout my career. Notable recent gallery affiliations include Gallery 1871 in Chicago and Connect Gallery in Hyde Park, Chicago. I have also presented a solo exhibition at the Union League Club in Chicago. My commissioned work includes a project for Swissotel, Downtown Chicago and I have had work on loan for four years at the Downtown Chicago Prudential Headquarters. Current Engagements Currently, I am represented by Space Gallery in Denver and serve as a mentor at the Red Line Contemporary Art Center in Denver (REACH Core Artist program). My studios are located both at home and at Artists on Santa Fe in Denver.
