Shara Oliman is an impressionist paper artist in the Denver metropolitan area. She gathers inspiration from the natural world, in addition to observations of the human experience as it relates to nature and inner growth. Shara works primarily with magazine pieces, painstakingly selected, based on color, weight and pattern. These small pieces are torn and/or cut to build painterly paper collages. Shara believes that unexpected materials allow her to bring perspective, enable introspection and evoke emotions. Each of her hand-made, analog creations require hundreds to thousands of paper pieces. Pieces are sealed and supported with professional-grade materials, including archival varnish. Shara is currently focused on the Western region landscapes in representation and abstract interpretation. Her work is collected privately and is also part of various corporate and healthcare collections in Colorado.
