I am an abstract mixed media artist with a background in technical drafting and graphic design. These show up in my artwork often as lines, grids, type, bold shapes and colors.
For me, being an artist is about the search for my authentic self by following what I feel, not just what I see. I organize my thoughts through process and with symbolic mark-making. Lines show the path of discovery and connection, even when I’m not sure where I’m going. I follow my own path; my internal sense of direction, making many loops and turns on my journey. The dots are the seeds of new ideas being planted along they way, growing and blossoming into natural beauty. The archways represent progress, moving through life, creating my work and entering new spaces. The layers of paint, marks, and papers, as well as, the process of sanding, scratching, revealing the layers underneath, represent the covering and uncovering the past to allow the present to unfold.
