I am utterly enchanted by encaustic painting — in all its many iterations and approaches. Like so many, I was initially drawn to encaustic because of the tactile and translucent qualities of beeswax. The smell, the mold-ability, and the layering allowing for building, scraping, and revealing are all so exciting. I’ve always been drawn to art that makes me smile and love a strong graphic approach. I sometimes paint whimsical characters, sometimes abstract shapes, but always exploring voice, tone, and palette.
