McCory James is a contemporary artist whose work blends natural environments with geometric lines and architectural elements. Inspired by travel, photography, and design, my work explores how structure and landscape coexist and shape our experience of place.
Working primarily in oil and gouache, McCory uses bold color, simplified forms, and architectural lines to create a dialogue between the organic and the constructed. His process often begins with photographs taken during his travels, but the finished work moves beyond documentation, aiming instead to capture how a place feels rather than how it looks. Through this balance of abstraction and realism, his paintings invite viewers to slow down, look deeper, and consider the unseen layers beneath the surface of familiar landscapes.
