Artist: Katharine McGuinness

“ A Monotype is really a painting done by the artist, in my case with lithography inks, onto a printing plate. This painting is then transferred onto 100% rag paper through an etching press. I work on a drawing composition first, then use that composition as a basis for creating a series of works repeating or changing colors and design elements as I go. Some images may be similar to each other, but each is painted onto the plate freeform by my own hand, with ever changing color and technique. There is no edition, each piece is unique.” Education University of Colorado, BFA Denver, CO 1976 Brooklyn Museum School Brooklyn, NY 1973-74 Philadelphia College of Art Philadelphia, PA 1971-73 Partial Listing of Corporate Purchases Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore Beverly Hills Hotel Delta Dental Four Season’s Hotel Hyatt Denver Presbyterian St Lukes Hospital Parker Adventist Hospital Cancer Center Eldorado Ridge Office Complex The Beauvallon Rose Medical Center Lindsey-Flannigan Justice Center Catholic Health Initiative T Rowe Price Pinnacle Assurance Hunterdon Art Center Tointon Gallery For The Visual Arts Lowes Investment Group Columbine Country Club TPS Design Selected Invitational And Juried Exhibits Arvada Center Art Of The State Spark Gallery “#LIVINGCOLOR” Denver Union Station North Wing Gallery Installation Ice Cube Gallery “Art Angels” Denver Convention Center Cherry Creek Arts Festival Art Students League Valkarie Gallery Solo Exhibit Dazzle Jazz Club Solo Exhibiting Artist Cultural Arts Council “Abstract Expressionism” Aurora Municipal Building Group Show St Julien Hotel One Person Show Zip37 La Quinta Art Festival Award Of Merit Studio 12 Gallery Dry Ice Factory Gallery Redshift Gallery 20th Anniversary Loveland Museum “Character Sketches” Kellog University Art Gallery “Ink and Clay” Albuquerque Arts Alliance ”Imprints” Regis University O’Sullivan Gallery “One Eye: The Art of Katharine McGuinness” Selected Collections Lansky and Wriggle Mountain Bell State Mutual Insurance Peter Coors Yale and Seffinger From The Press “Kate McGuinness passionately loves her work and the process involved. She is truly one of the most passionate artists I have met in a long time. When asked why she chose printmaking over painting, she quickly responded, ‘I love ink, I always have.’ McGuinness’ provocative compositions represent pure spontaneity. Her art is dazzling.” - Sandra Phillips, LODO NEWS
