Inspiration for my work comes from nature, architecture and aerial views of Earth. Improvisation without a predetermined goal or set of requirements allows play and building up layers of colors and shapes. Everything is open to change and new views and somewhere along the way the surface will make sense to me as a potentially finished piece.
This quote from Joan Mitchell speaks to me: "I paint from remembered landscapes that I carry with me and remembered feelings of them, which of course become transformed. I could certainly never mirror nature. I would like more to paint what it leaves me with."
