Gayla Lemke has been an active studio artist in the Denver area for many years. She received a B.F.A. from the University of Hawaii and an M.A. from the University of South Florida, majoring in printmaking. While she presently is more likely to work in ceramic sculpture or installation, she has continued to visit the world of printmaking over the years. This piece is from a series of abstracted landscapes created by cutting up past prints and reassembling them into collaged pieces. This work shows a connection to her ceramic work in textures, forms and patterns. She is a long time member of Edge Gallery, presently located in the 40West Art District and teaches at the Art Students League of Denver.
